Our Approach

The Narrative Tradition (as developed by Helen Palmer and Dr David Daniels) is at the heart of everything we do. We create space for people to share their experiences of living with their type patterns. In listening to people’s stories we develop understanding and compassion for ourselves and for others.

This way of exploring the Enneagram doesn’t come from textbooks. It comes from personal insight, emotional honesty, and the recognition that emerges when someone says something that you’ve always felt but never had words for.

The Narrative method invites us to explore how type shows up, how it shapes attention, emotion and relationships. At Enneagram Training UK &  Ireland we teach the Enneagram not as an abstract theory, but through real life experiences. This way of working allows for depth. It allows for contradiction. And it allows for the messiness that comes with real transformation.

How We Work

IEA Accredited Enneagram School 2025 seal for Enneagram Training UK & Ireland.
  • Our in person trainings have a group size of around 15 participants, with the exception of the Intensive Growth which works best with 20 to 25 participants. Our professional programmes take place online in small groups.

  • Our trainings comprise individual, pair, small and whole group activities. We value experiential learning: body-based practices, shared enquiry, and real conversation.

  • We take a three centred approach - during our workshops we discuss, reflect, meditate, explore and move in many different ways. And we make space for chat, fun and walks too.

  • Our experienced team of facilitators, coaches and supervisors create a respectful, gentle and safe space for individuals to develop within the group. We offer personal attention and support to each participant.

  • Our relationships with our students continue after our trainings. Our online Community Evenings are an opportunity to stay in touch and continue our Enneagram journey together.

"By far the best experience I have had on any course. The fact that I’m returning says how sincerely I mean this."

Our Story

Enneagram Training UK had its genesis in the early 2000s, when Helen Palmer and David Daniels visited Europe to run the Narrative Tradition trainings. Rosemary Cowan and Heather Brown trained with Helen and David around this time, and then first Rosemary and later Heather too, worked to bring the Narrative Enneagram to English speakers in Europe. They were both (and still are!) passionate about making the Enneagram accessible and ensuring the work is grounded in an open, compassionate, experiential environment, rooted in a wish for personal growth.

With help from Enneagram Europe, who were already affiliated to The Narrative Enneagram in the USA, Rosemary and Heather set up the first UK and Ireland Foundation training in 2013. This has been running ever since, together with the Professional Training, which teaches people in coaching, counselling, psychotherapy, corporate, spiritual or other contexts how to use the Enneagram to enrich the accompaniment they offer their clients. The Typing Practitioner Training and the more advanced Panel and Teacher Facilitation and 1-1 qualifications are now joined by a developing suite of Inner Growth workshops, for people who want to deepen their personal journey without necessarily training to use the Enneagram with others.

Today, Enneagram Training UK and Ireland continues to grow from that original foundation. Over the last few years, Rosemary and Heather have trained an excellent team of teachers (Helen, Therese and Antigony) to carry on the work they started. While Rosemary and Heather may no longer be at the front of the room, their influence is still very much part of the way we teach - with care, clarity, and a deep respect for the lived experience of every person in the room.

We are proud to carry that work forward and to keep evolving how we share the Enneagram, without losing the things that made it meaningful from the start.
